auDA 2005 AGM Director Nominations

Candidate Statements

Marty Drill - Supply

I am passionate about the .au industry and believe that the industry has and will continue to effectively self-regulate. I believe that I can play important role balancing the community and commercial interests. The interests of the supply class will be well served by having a representative outside of the 4 large Registrars.

Currently a Director of 4 companies and with experience on several commercial and community boards, I believe that I have the experience to assist in guiding and leading auDA.

Brett Fenton - Supply

I have been involved in the domain industry for the past 6 years. During this time I have sat and contributed to a number of auDA policy panels, including the Code of Conduct and Names Panels. If elected to the auDA Board, I would seek to bring both a commercial point of view from a large Registrar, and that of the silent majority of Registrants that we interact with with directly on a daily basis. I see value in continuing sustainable policy development that imposes fewer restrictions in what is a market driven economy.

David Goldstein - Demand

My interest in DNS issues has been developed through the internet news newsletter I compile along with participating in online discussions on DNS and internet governance issues.

I have a wide background in government and not-for-profit sectors. Over the last ten years, my work has included internet content regulation and child protection, technology and schools, and disability issues.

I would enjoy the challenge and opportunity of being a Demand Class board member ensuring the views and concerns of domain name holders, internet users and the general public are heard when developing policy and in the development of the .au namespace.

Josh Rowe - Demand

Josh is currently a demand class auDA board member and would like to be re-elected for another term. Josh Rowe has over 12 years experience with the Internet. Josh is a staunch consumer advocate within the Australian domain name industry especially in regards to exposing unscrupulous operators, see: www.domainwatch.org. Josh maintains www.whatsinaname.com.au which provides a Price Comparison of auDA Accredited Registrars. Josh is also a director of Australian, Asia-Pacific and International anti-spam lobby groups. More information about Josh Rowe is available on his web site: www.josh.id.au

Roger Dean - Rep Assoc

I am involved with internet technology in its roles in educational delivery, e-research and on-line interactive network creative artwork.  I am an internationally known composer/improviser as well as University President.  The development of the internet has other crucial economic and social benefits that we can optimise.  I offer a technical and societal input to auDA.
