Discussion:

The Committee discussed the amendments suggested by KF, BT and SR.

  • Clause 5.2 b) - amendment agreed.
  • Clause 5.5 b) - amendment agreed. Adding the word "existing" will permit domain name suppliers to make offers regarding new domain name registrations.
  • Clause 5.5 c) - new clause agreed. The term "cross-reference" is intended to encompass unique identifiers, web references and other mechanisms used to direct a customer to a specific domain name in a way that implies a previous business relationship. SR to draft a guideline.
  • Clause 5.5 d) - amendment agreed. By separating out the first part of the clause, it will more clearly apply to all forms of solicitation, not just renewal offers.
  • Clause 5.5 e) - amendment agreed. Clause extended to cover transfers as well as renewals. • Clause 5.5 j) - amendment agreed. Adding the words "or an invoice" will cover offers for new registrations as well as renewals.
  • Clause 5.5 Guidelines - amendment and new examples agreed. The amended example (2) covers transfers as well as renewals. The new examples (5) and (6) describe recent incidences of unacceptable conduct.
  • Clause 6.1 - SR to redraft clause to take account of the new definition of Product.
  • Clause 15.6 c) -new clause agreed, SR to include a reference to the seriousness of the complaint.
  • Clause 15.6 f) - amendment agreed.
  • Clause 15.6 g) - SR to redraft clause to provide a longer time limit for suppliers to respond to a request for information.
  • Clause 16 - there was agreement that the definition of Product should cover a domain name and related such as renewals and transfers, but it should not be extended to cover web hosting and other ancillary services. SR to draft wording.
  • Minor edits to other Code clauses agreed.

Action:

  • SR to redraft clauses 5.5, 6.1,15.6 and the definition of Product, in line with Committee comments.
  • Committee to sign-off Code via the mailing list.
