Discussion:
The Committee considered public comments received on the draft Code, including substantive submissions from David Lindsay, the Australian Communications Authority and the Australian Consumers Association. NS volunteered to redraft the Code to pick up many of the comments made in these submissions.
The Committee agreed that the Code should be reviewed 3, 6 and 12 months after operation. Reviews would be conducted by the Committee, with public comments to be invited. The membership of the Committee would not be fixed; current members may choose to resign, new members may be appointed.
JL advised the Committee that auDA has no plans at this stage to seek registration of the Code with the ACA, although it is an option that might be considered further down the track depending.
Action:
- CL-O to send collated public comments to the list after meeting
- Committee members to provide any drafting suggestions to NS by 24/7
- NS to distribute revised Code on 26/7
- Committee teleconference on 30/7 to "sign off" Code
- LW to draft cover letter to auDA Board
- Code to be published on auDA web site on 5/8
- auDA Board consideration on 12/8.
