Call for Proposals for conf.au and info.au

1. Background

conf.au and info.au are existing 2LDs that are not currently active. The original purpose of conf.au was for short duration conferences and exhibitions. The original purpose of info.au was to identify major Australian informational resources (eg. "missingpersons.info.au").

The auDA board has agreed to reactivate conf.au and info.au, subject to public consultation on their purpose and policy rules.

2. Submission and Evaluation Process

auDA invites proposals for the reactivation of conf.au and info.au.

Proposals should include:

a. The purpose of the 2LD.
b. The intended users of the 2LD (including both registrants and non-registrants who may benefit from or use the 2LD).
c. The proposed eligibility criteria and allocation rules that would apply in the 2LD.

*Example 1 – proposal for conf.au:

a. conf.au should be for conferences and exhibitions.
b. Conference organisers and sponsors, conference attendees.
c. Registrants must have an ABN, and they can only register the name of the conference.

*Example 2 – proposal for info.au:

a. info.au should be for commercial purposes (same as com.au and net.au).
b. Same as com.au and net.au.
c. Same as com.au and net.au.

Proposals for conf.au and info.au will be considered by the New 2LDs Advisory Panel, as part of its evaluation of new 2LD proposals (refer to auDA's Call for Proposals for New 2LDs ).
