TPP Internet renewal advice emails breached Code of Practice

Melbourne, 29 July 2004 - auDA has found that accredited registrar TPP Internet acted in breach of the .au Domain Name Suppliers' Code of Practice by sending inaccurate and misleading renewal advice emails to domain name registrants.

During April-July 2004, TPP Internet sent emails to a number of its former customers advising them that their domain names were about to expire, or had already expired, when in fact the customer had already transferred and renewed their domain name through another accredited registrar.

auDA has found that TPP Internet breached the Code of Practice, because the emails contained inaccurate information about the registrants' domain names and misled some registrants into believing that TPP Internet was still their registrar of record.
