In one of his first public speaking roles since his appointment by the Australian Government, new Children’s eSafety Commissioner Alastair MacGibbon will run a workshop at the 2015 auIGF (Australian Internet Governance Forum) highlighting achievements to date and future plans.

Australia’s Internet community today celebrates a significant milestone with the .au domain namespace surpassing 3 million domain names under management.
The milestone follows strong growth in registrations over the past 13 years and places .au in the top 10 of all countries by volume.
The .au domain namespace is an essential service asset for Australian businesses and plays a critical role in providing a platform for the nation’s digital economy.

.au Domain Administration (auDA) is currently inviting comment on a public issues paper about the way .au domain names are allocated and used. The paper has been prepared by a Names Policy Panel consisting of nominated members of the Australian Internet community who have expressed interest in helping shape policy for the .au domain space.

Debate to retain a free, open and interoperable Internet is what the Australian Internet Governance Forum (auIGF) exists to facilitate. Inviting ‘ambassadors’ to assist in the co-ordination of the auIGF is how the wider Internet using community can take an active role of engagement.
