Yes, we could indeed sell a few more domains if the existing policies were liberalised further, but the name space has a great deal of integrity now which adds immense value to all the stake holders in it. By watering down the eligibilty criteria even further we would be heading down a slippery slope that will see our com.au/net.au namespace degenerate to the drunken party-like condition of the unregulated.com space where anything goes.... However, there is scope to copy what some country code spaces are curently doing - particularly in Asia - which is to impose strict conditions on the second level domains but offer a free-for-all in the top level. Eg. We could keep the existing policies for .com.au which are working well and open up the top level to the great unwashed masses. Just a thought... a "murray.au" domain would certainly be more commercially viable than a "murray.id.au" domain. I know this has been raised in the past, but maybe it's time to place it back onto the agenda. While I don't want to see com.au diluted and ruined, I do think that growing the name space by other means is good for the industry. Best regards Murray Kester Business Manager PlanetDomain
