The area I operate is "the accommodation industry" one of the most competitive of internet commodities. Over the years I have seen my positioning eroded with a fly by nighters and other spammers who use illegal or underhand techniques (that is - providing other than honest information about a product) as they jam the top of the listings on Google and others with their back door sites and spurious directory listings. As I see it "monetisation" will only add more to the confusion at the top and further reduce the visibility of what I choose to call genuine businesses such as mine. By genuine business I mean - those that offer an actual product involving direct services or tangible product for the end user which involve a direct relationship between the service and product and the end user - they also involve the direct employment of real people. I compare this with the "service" that is provided by the monetisers - simply using the internet to trawl for people possibly interested in whatever on what I call "mud on the wall techniques" - some of it is bound to stick! So ... as a consequence I am opposed to the relaxation of the rules that are suggested in the position statement Cheers Peter Sherry Stumm & Peter Wildblood Benbellen Country Retreat Cherry Tree Cottage at Benbellen Farm Penlan Cottage
