Domain Name Registration Issues

What are my obligations as a registrant?

At a minimum, registrants must keep their contact details up-to-date during the term of their domain name licence.  Registrants must also comply with all applicable auDA Published Policies (http://www.auda.org.au/policies/policy-index/).

How do I delegate/redelegate my domain name?

Your registrar or reseller is able to assist you with this. 

How do I transfer to another registrar?

You can choose to transfer to another registrar at any time during the time you hold your domain name licence.  For more information see auDA's Transfers (Change of Registrar of Record) Policy.

How do I recover my domain name password?

Your registrar or reseller is able to assist you to recover your domain name password.  To recover your domain nama password please use the password recovery tool .  For more information see auDA's Domain Name Password Policy.

How do I delete a domain name?

If you no longer want your domain name, you can ask your registrar of record to delete it for you.  Your domain name will be held in "pending delete" status for 3 days, and will then be immediately dropped from the registry.

How do I find out registrant details on an existing .au domain name?

Use the public WHOIS search (http://www.ausregistry.com.au/whois).

Can I transfer my domain name to another entity?

Yes, provided you are the current registrant of the domain name, and the other entity is eligible to hold the domain name under normal eligibility and allocation rules for .au domain names.  See auDA's Transfers (Change of Registrant) Policy (2011-03).
