But, I would like to make a suggestion of a change to the conf.au domain to broaden its market base without touching on the existing domains string by changing conf.au to EVENT.AU. This would expand the focus of the domain from just conferences and seminars to other activities from Personal Events such as Birthday's, Anniversaries, Corporate Events such as Sales Presentations, Annual General Meetings, etc. and Sporting Events such as AFL, Rugby League Rugby Union, Soccer, Tennis, and Swimming just to name a few examples. The event.au string can be controlled like com.au, asn.au, allowing only events to exhibit through to the internet community. Thus expand the AU space in a responsible manner, providing the Australian internet community and business sectors areas of growth and future potential without effecting the stability of the au root structure. Open the Domain up to all registrars, but if you decide to have it remained a closed domain string make sure that an excellent marketing campaign is part of the registry and registrars responsibility.
