When .net.au and .org.au were brought into the main stream then registrants were given an option to choose a new registrar at no cost - with no transfer fee to move. I believe we should have provided (and still should provide) the same facility to .com.au. I have a number of domains being managed under MelbourneIT for customers. These customers would love to move their domains to my currrent registrar so that they have a common management process across their domains. I also would prefer it for economies in deling with a single registrar - I am forced to continue dealing with MelbourneIT So I would suggets a one on e period where we were allowed to move (using the std transfer protocol to ensure that cutomers had approved the move) customers over from ZMelbourneIT to a registrar of choice at no cost 2. I believe that we should allow customers to transfer their domains from one registrar to another and have that additional transfer time added onto their registration period. I understand the issues around re-certifying the customers eligibility for the domain and would suggest that these transfers are allowed, but only if the new expiration period does not exceed a more reasonable figure - say 4 years. This allows customers the option of moving from the first choice registrar if they have , for some reason, decided that they made a mistake in selection without financial penalty (but not two moves). 3. The actual transfer process is cumbersome - I suggest that if the transfer process has already verified the domain password then that should be sufficient - additional emails should not be required.
