From: Sent: Wednesday, 28 July 2004 5:14 PM To: jo.lim@auda.org.au Subject: Review of auDA policy - restriction on geographic names in com.au and net.au I must strongly support Question 1, that the present restriction on geographic names in the .com.au and .net.au be maintained. I support this assertion because I am one of the founding principals of the One City One Site Working Group (OCOS) and I believe that what we have achieved in the creation of the new 2LD geographic name space will be to no avail should these new addresses be allowed. Further, the original OCOS submission to auDA for the creation of these new 2LDs was supported by a large number of letters of support from an extremely wide-ranging group of community interests, including my Council, which permits me the time to be a part of the next stage of OCOS, the pilot project of Bathurst Community Website. It would be shame if all the hard work put in by a number of people over the years was eroded by the simple act of releasing geographic names into the commercial world of URLs.
