From: Sent: Thursday, 29 July 2004 11:54 AM To: jo.lim@auda.org.au Subject: Geographic Names Review I appreciate that I have already commented on this matter, but I could not let the comments of Larry Bloch go uncontested. Please bear in mind that these comments will relate to the positions of authority held by Larry, and I am certainly not attacking the person. Firstly - it must certainly be a conflict of interest to have a person who earns an income from the sale of domain names sitting on a board that determines which names are for sale and for how much. Secondly - the statement concerning 'community focused initiatives of a commercial or non-commercial nature'. Commercial interests are driven by the profit motive. Any community focussed initiatives undertaken by commercial interests are solely because they see a financial benefit at the end of the day.
