From: Bennett Oprysa Sent: Friday, 30 July 2004 10:43 AM To: Jo Lim Subject: geographic names Jo, The restriction on geographic names in the COMMERCIAL name spaces of com.au and .net.au should be lifted immediately. These namespaces have been defined to be specifically for commercial use, government departments have had .gov.au, and now also the nsw.au etc spaces allocated specifically for use by councils and geographically separated communities. As can clearly be seen from your responses so far, the vast majority of people in favour of keeping the restriction in place are in some way associated with the OCOS project. Their view seems to be that the removal of this restriction will have a major impact on the viability of their project. If this is the case, then the OCOS project was badly planned out and should never have been approved by auDA. You cannot have a restriction on the commercial .au name space for the sole reason of propping up OCOS. Bennett Oprysa Chief Operations Officer Enetica Pty Ltd
