From: Michael Purse Sent: Saturday, 27 August 2005 8:55 PM To: jo.lim@auda.org.au Subject: Submission on WHOIS Policy Jo, In response for the call for public submissions for the WHOIS Policy review, I wish to put forward the following: Email addresses currently returned after submitting a WHOIS query should be removed from public view, and made accessible only via an automated form with a verification system (eg. Entering a code from an image) in order to prevent automated address harvesting by spammers. Whilst spamming will never be completely eliminated, this will help alleviate possible data harvesting issues that may or may not currently be present. All other aspects of the WHOIS Policy are satisfactory, and should remain in place as they currently are, except where a change needs to be made to conform with the change I have suggested.
