From: Andrew Rogers Sent: Wednesday, 29 January 2003 3:25 PM To: Jo Lim Subject: Re: [registrars] transfers policy comments - due by 31/1/03 Jo, I support the comments and recommendations being made by Enetica and others in that the domain password should be sufficient for authorisation of the transfer. We have found also that the renewal confirmation emails are not being received, or are being ignored or not actioned. The are no conceivable negative implications (other than for MelbourneIT) for registrants and registrars/resellers of the proposed change to allow transfers to be authorised only by registry key. A registrar/reseller could renew a domain by knowing only the the domain password and not having direct contact at the time with the registrant - in doing so they are liable for the Ausregistry/auDA fees and would not do this unless they were confident of being paid by the registrant (ie have contact with them at the time or an existing account of some form).
