I agree with Dr Bedford’s comments, but believe that the current method of allocating com.au domain names would lead to a ‘first-in, first-served’ name grab. If/when a suitable application process can be proposed to prevent this, I would revisit my objection. I also agree with Patrick Bradbery’s comments and I suggest that the release of com.au geographic names would render the new geographic scheme largely irrelevant by blurring the mandate of the new scheme.
