I think this comment form the Davos World Economic Forum sums up my views. The divides are real and with globalisation there is a "structural fault of poverty. On the one side the powerful and wealthy, on the other side the powerless and poor". South Africa's President Thabo Mbeki said that unless action is taken to bridge that divide "we must expect the poor, disenfranchised and disempowered will at some stage say `No'". The Policy that is hiding behind generic words to deny a company that pre-dates the internet in Australia to have its company name as a domain name and at the same time now allows product names so that Kraft can now legitimately have vegemite.com.au, is clear proof that auDA and this Panel is creating, in the language of S11, a digital technology divide. It seems as if the only people who really understand this is S11, the Panel has shown no understanding or competence at all in the matter.
