At APIGA Australia, we are committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and professional environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for behaviour to ensure a positive and engaging experience for all participants, speakers and APIGA Staff.
Professionalism
- Punctuality: Arrive on time for sessions and adhere to the event schedule. In the event of a personal or family emergency and you need to leave early, please inform APIGA staff.
- Dress code: Dress appropriately for a casual, professional setting. Clothing should be respectful and suitable for the event.
Inclusivity
- Accessibility: We aim to make the event accessible to all. If you have any specific needs or require accommodations, please let us know when completing your applicant form, or as soon as practicable.
- Supportive environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive environment by being mindful of others' experiences and perspectives.
Safety and wellbeing
- Health and safety: Participants are required to follow any health and safety guidelines provided by APIGA Australia staff and to report any hazards or health and safety issues immediately. Participants should advise APIGA Australia staff and abstain from the event or scheduled sessions of the event if they develop or display any symptoms that are similar to COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat and runny nose) or are otherwise unwell.
- Substance use: The use of illegal substances is prohibited. Participants wishing to purchase and consume alcohol in their own time after scheduled events may do so at their discretion and must take all reasonable steps to ensure their own safety, including in relation to the responsible consumption of alcohol. Any Participant displaying public intoxication or seen or suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances at any time during the event will forfeit their right to further participation in the event. Participants should at all times act responsibly and comply with local laws.
- Property: Participants are responsible for the safety of their property and should adhere to third party provider recommendations with respect to valuables and safety features, including the use of safes.
Confidentiality and privacy
- Personal information: Respect the privacy of others. Do not share personal information or photos without consent. Participants acknowledge that APIGA Australia staff may take photos film or audio recordings of the event and may display these photos and recordings for promotional or business purposes. Please advise us if you do not consent.
- Confidential information: APIGA Australia encourages open discussion and engagement on the topics of the event amongst Participants. Participants are responsible for their own compliance with any confidentiality or other proprietary or legal restrictions which may apply to information provided by them at the event.
Respectful behaviour
- Respect for others: Treat all participants, speakers, and APIGA staff with respect and courtesy. Discriminatory or offensive behaviour, including but not limited to, comments or actions related to race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion, will not be tolerated.
- Constructive communication: Engage in open and constructive dialogue. Personal attacks, aggressive language, or interrupting others will not facilitate open dialogue and are unacceptable.
Third Party Providers
- Compliance: Whilst in transit or at the provided accommodation facilities, Participants must comply with all policies and procedures, including health and safety requirements and instructions, of the transportation or accommodation provider.
- Third Party Terms of Use: Participants are advised that transport and accommodation provided at APIGA Australia is for the invited Participant only and subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant transportation and accommodation providers. Any cost, loss or disruption caused by delays or cancellation of flights by a third-party provider is the responsibility of the third-party provider and Participants are advised to consider travel insurance appropriate to their needs.
Reporting issues
- Speak up: If you experience or witness any behaviour that breaches this Code of Conduct, please report it to an APIGA staff member or to info@apiga.au.
- Confidentiality of reports: Reports made under this Code of Conduct will be handled confidentially. We are committed to ensuring a safe environment and a successful APIGA Australia. We will investigate concerns raised and take appropriate action.
Compliance
- Adherence to the Code: All participants are expected to comply with this Code of Conduct. Non-compliance may result in removal from the event, at the discretion of APIGA Australia staff.
