Rosemary Sinclair AM

Chief Executive Officer

Rosemary Sinclair AM is CEO of auDA, the administrator and self-regulatory policy body for Australia’s country code Top Level Domain, the .au domain.

Rosemary has a distinguished record in the telecommunications, technology, energy and education sectors, driving transformation, high performance and advocacy.
 

Prior to joining auDA, Rosemary was CEO of Energy Consumers Australia, responsible for enhancing consumer advocacy in the national energy market on issues including price, quality and security of supply.

Rosemary has served on local corporate, government and international boards, including CPA Australia, the Communications Alliance, International Telecommunications User Group (INTUG) and West Tigers Rugby League Football Club. 

She has over 20 years’ experience in international policy development and multi-stakeholder engagement with bodies including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and has been engaged in market developments in Asian economies over this time.

Rosemary received the Order of Australia Award for service to the telecommunications sector in the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours List, the same year in which she was a finalist in the QANTAS AFR Top 100 Women of Influence. 

Rosemary is a Director of CPA Australia and a past part-time Member of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). 

Rosemary is a qualified Fellow of CPA Australia and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She also holds degrees in Arts, Law and Business from the University of Sydney and a Master of Commerce degree from UNSW.

Dr. Bruce Tonkin

Dr. Bruce Tonkin

Chief Operating Officer

Dr Bruce Tonkin is the Chief Operating Officer for the .au Domain Administration Limited, where he is responsible for the operations of the .au ccTLD.

Before joining auDA, he was Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at Melbourne IT from 1999 until 2017, where over the years he has been responsible for IT infrastructure, software development, the development of the company's strategic and operating plans, strategic initiatives with major customers and suppliers, and managing the evaluation of merger and acquisition opportunities. He gained more than 15 years of experience taking cloud based services to global markets across the USA, Europe, and Asia for both SMBs and Enterprises. Bruce also served on the Board of ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers) for 9 years. ICANN manages the global domain name and IP addressing system for the Internet.   

Bruce holds a BE(Hons) and a Ph.D. in electrical and electronic engineering and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

James Shady

Chief Financial Officer

James Shady is the Chief Financial Officer at .au Domain Administration Limited, where he is responsible for the financial performance of the .au ccTLD.

James is focused on enhancing business performance through team development and effective collaboration. He has deep corporate finance, due diligence and performance consulting experience gained conducting due diligence reviews, delivering divestments and acquisitions, and conducting complex commercial and restructuring engagements. His experience has been gained across a range of industries including financial services, healthcare, energy, transport and government as a Partner and Director in global advisory firms. James has worked on complex transactions in Australia, Asia and UK.

James is a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), a Member of the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA) and holds a Bachelor of Economics (Monash) and Master of Applied Finance (Melbourne).

Sophie Mitchell

Chief Communications Officer

Sophie Mitchell is the Chief Communications Officer at auDA, the .au Domain Administrator, where she is responsible for corporate communications, member and stakeholder engagement, internet and public policy, media relations and marketing.

Sophie is committed to raising awareness of auDA’s work, growing trust and confidence in the .au and expanding auDA’s strategic partnerships both locally and abroad.
 

Sophie has strong experience providing corporate communications, government relations and strategic reputation and issues management advice to businesses and executives across a range of sectors including government media, technology, manufacturing, retail and healthcare. Through this work she has a strong appreciation for the transformative power of technology and connectivity. Sophie is a member of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)’s Nominating Committee, an independent committee responsible for selecting eight members of ICANN's Board of Directors and key ICANN council and committee positions.

Sophie holds a BA Hons from the University of Melbourne and a LLB from Monash University.

Chief People and Culture Officer (Interim)

Jane has extensive experience in transformative direction setting, strategic planning and communications, particularly within the government, education, ICT and creative industries. 

Jane is an organisational strategist, a change agent and a specialist in strengthening organisations and managing disruption, innovation and sustainability. 

Jane’s CEO and senior executive career spans more than 25 years. It includes: 

  • Adviser to federal Cabinet Ministers 
  • Planning and strategy roles in Telecom Australia
  • Corporate Strategist; General Manager, Corporate Planning; General Manager, International and General Manager, Radio Support at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation 
  • Chief Executive of the NSW Film and Television Office 
  • Vice-President Australia for Seed Productions, actor Hugh Jackman’s production company. 
  • Jane’s has held board roles at organisations including:
  • Federation University 
  • Classification Review Board
  • Melbourne Writers Festival
  • Mobile Premium Services Code Review. 

Jane established her own consultancy, the shiny shiny world, through which she worked with the Australian Institute of Architects, the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (M.A.D.E),  the LGBTIQA+ Health Alliance and Craft Victoria.
