I can see how this is on the agenda but I also do not see much in the way of it being a positive thing for people who already own at .com.au People are conditioned and have been for years that most domain names in Australia are .com.au It will take a long time for people to adapt to this change and I suspect most businesses if they opted for the .au instead they would still need to keep com.au for some time and therefore pay for two domains and forwarding of the .com.au to the au. I know the choice to keep com.au would exist - and my guess is most people would stick with what they have. New business are likely to be interested. Old business are likely to want to have both for safe keeping. Which one they use - well who knows. Another down side to this is that it is likely to create duplicate business names. In my industry for example when you try and come up with a business name you find most of them are already taken. Again this is where having a registered business name as part of the criteria would go a long way in controlling possible duplicates. I am probably not explaining myself overly well. Sorry. Anyway just thought you might be interested in the feedback. Kind regards Sharron
