Shorter, simpler .au domain names - like – will soon be available as an additional option for registration by Australian internet users.

These names are known as ‘second level' domains as they sit at the level below '.au', the county code top level domain (ccTLD) for Australia. They are also sometimes referred to as being in the .au namespace (other namespaces are, etc.). Registering names at the second level is also sometimes referred to as ‘direct registration’.
