In 2022, we will be profiling .au members across a range of diverse industries and locations, to support virtual member networking.
Our latest .au member in the spotlight is Digital Strategist and Teck Design and Marketing Founder, Esther Anderson, who talks to us about operating a local and global business and why she chooses .au for a reputable online presence.

Can you tell us about your company/role?
Hello, I am Esther Anderson, Digital Strategist, Analyst and Founder of Teck Design and Marketing, and the Influencers of Substance mentorship program.
We audit, evaluate and analyse your digital value chain to see if the messaging and brand you portray, is what you intended. We identify what requires improvement and look for opportunities you don’t realise exist.
Why do you choose .au?
The big one is reputation management. You spend years building your online profile and you don’t want it being watered down, or risk sending mixed messages with potential clients looking for you and ending up elsewhere. .au also signifies a location specific presence, which we like to emphasise as our target audience is primarily based in Australia.
How do you stay current on innovation and online trends?
Being a member of specific organisations that keep you up –to- date is one thing, but also attending events that share knowledge is important. This is a bonus now that events are online. Without travelling overseas, you can still learn from many other international organisations, too.
I’m currently a member of: :

.au Domain Administration (auDA)
Podcasts, futurism newsletters, and listening to webinars from our many software partners also keep me up to date.
Why is a secure, open, free and global Internet important to you?
Our mottos is ‘Locally Based ~ Globally Focused’
We have always educated our clients that opportunity is more than your location.
Having lived in a regional location for many years, the internet is vital on many levels of health, education and keeping community together. It is not a ‘nice to have’ but should be an integral part of today’s society to be afforded to all people at the same level.
What economic and social value does the internet deliver to you?
The internet opens doors, simply put. When I lived in a small town, I was able to employ skilled staff that didn’t live in my location, purely as we were internet based. I could never have had that level of experience in my team without the internet.
Over time, our clients have come to us from different countries, time zones and cultures. This all comes together to bring us different perspectives, knowledge, and experiences. It makes our work life so much more than being based in the one location. Currently we have clients in nine countries and counting. The internet provides the ability to connect and build relationships, both friendship and business.
If you could tell your fellow .au members one thing, what would it be?
Knowledge is power. There are many who don’t understand the digital world, and by sharing the knowledge freely, we can empower and educate others.
The .au domain is highly trusted and recognised. We should all work to protect and promote the concept both here in Australia as well as globally.
