Policy No: 2003-05
Publication Date: 08/07/2003
Status: Replaced by Policy No 2004-02
1.1 This document sets out the auDA Published Policies that apply to the edu.au 2LD.
1.2 auDA has delegated responsibility for edu.au to the Australian Information and Communications Technology in Education Committee (AICTEC), a cross-sectoral, national committee responsible for providing advice to the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) on the economic and effective utilisation of online technologies in Australian education and training. AICTEC has in turn delegated edu.au policy authority to a subcommittee, the edu.au Domain Administration Committee (eDAC).
1.3 Registrar services for edu.au are provided by education.au ltd, a company owned by Commonwealth, State and Territory education and training Ministers. Policy rules for edu.au, as determined by eDAC and implemented by education.au ltd, are available on the edu.au registration web site at http://www.domainname.edu.au.
2. auDA PUBLISHED POLICIES APPLYING TO EDU.AU
2.1 For reasons of efficiency and convenience, auDA and AICTEC have agreed that some of the auDA Published Policies for open 2LDs should also apply to edu.au. These are listed in Schedule A. Any variation to Schedule A must be agreed by both auDA and AICTEC.
2.2 For the purposes of the .au Dispute Resolution Policy (auDRP) (2002-22), the date of effect for edu.au domain names is 19 June 2003. This means that domain name licences that were issued before 19 June 2003 are not subject to a mandatory administrative proceeding under the auDRP:
a) until the domain name licence is renewed; or
b) unless the registrant voluntarily elects to be bound by the auDRP before their domain name licence is renewed.
