Who we are and what we do

.au Domain Administration (auDA) is a not-for-profit organisation that manages the .au domain. Our purpose is to administer a trusted .au for the benefit of all Australians and champion an open, free, secure and global internet.

We’re endorsed by the Australian Government and operate under an agreement with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the international body that coordinates the internet’s naming and numbering system to manage the .au domain name system (DNS).

The .au is Australian critical infrastructure, relied on by millions of internet users in Australia and around the world. Each time you visit a .au website or send an email to an address that ends in .au, the .au DNS works behind the scenes to connect you to the right destination online.

We support the needs of Australian internet users by:

  • Delivering a stable, secure and reliable .au DNS
  • Implementing .au policy rules that are transparent, responsive and efficient
  • Investing in the Australian internet ecosystem to improve the utility of the .au domain.

We also participate in global internet governance processes. Through advocacy and active participation, we strive to unlock positive social and economic value for Australians through an open, free, secure and global internet. We connect with the Australian public through the .au membership program. Any adult citizen can join us as a member to have their voice heard and contribute to the .au domain.

Why people join auDA

Employee benefits

01

Flexible, hybrid working

It’s important that all the pieces of your life fit together, so we provide our people opportunities to work flexibly. auDA offers hybrid working to take advantage of working from home, while also accessing the benefits of coming together in a collegiate, collaborative office environment. Team members are encouraged to discuss flexible working arrangements with their manager to find the right balance.

02

Wellbeing Program + EAP

Whether it’s a gym membership, wellness classes, physio or something else, our Wellbeing Program empowers our people to seek out wellbeing services that best suit their needs, with reimbursement for approved activities up to an annual limit. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential support to our people and regular sessions on key aspects of wellbeing.

03

Salary packaging

As a not-for-profit organisation, auDA employees can benefit from salary packaging to reduce your taxable income and increase your take home pay. You can sacrifice part of your pre-tax salary to pay key expenses such as cars, mortgage or rent.

04

Work from home support

If you’re working from home, you need a solid setup. We offer our people an initial ergonomic home office budget so they’re comfortable at home, as well as reimbursement of home internet to an approved amount.

05

Training and development

We encourage our people to upskill and continue their professional development, ranging from free and accessible training through dedicated support for those pursuing professional courses and higher education, where appropriate.

06

Paid Parental Leave

At auDA, we support our colleagues though all stages of life. We offer paid parental leave to all auDA employees to help them balance their family and work duties following the birth or adoption of a child.

auDA’s values

Our values underpin and guide how we behave and work together, and how we engage with our multi-stakeholder community.
