Reconciliation Action Plan

auDA’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) focuses on engagement, education and cultural awareness to build stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

auDA’s inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) sets out the first steps in auDA’s reconciliation journey to embed the principles of reconciliation within our organisation.

A Reflect RAP is part of an organisation’s preparation to engage in reconciliation meaningfully and is implemented over 12-18 months. In our RAP, auDA has set out our deliverable actions, detailed on pages 10-16, for the period of July 2025-June 2026.

Our RAP was developed by our Leadership Team and internal RAP Working Group in consultation with First Nations consultants and with feedback and guidance from Reconciliation Australia. In developing our RAP we considered what auDA can contribute to advancing reconciliation, particularly within the digital space. Our RAP sets out auDA’s vision and deliverable actions for respectfully working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to embrace and celebrate their cultures and valued contributions to our nation and to create opportunities through digital inclusion and innovation.

Through our RAP, we seek to:

  • Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to ensure they have a strong voice in building an inclusive .au domain
  • Unlock positive social and economic value for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the .au domain
  • Partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations to enhance the utility of the internet and promote digital inclusion for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Actively support and encourage discussion about the Uluru Statement from the Heart with the Australian internet community
  • Recognise that our organisation is better for working inclusively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Improve our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, cultures and peoples by participating in cultural awareness training and cultural immersion activities.

auDA’s RAP was formally endorsed by Reconciliation Australia in June 2025 and endorsed by the auDA Board at the June 2025 board meeting.

auDA will track the progress of our deliverable actions. We will report our progress annually to Reconciliation Australia and provide external progress updates through our Annual Report.

Artwork story

auDA licensed a painting, Walkabout by Luke Mc of the Wulgurukaba People of Northern Queensland. This artwork features on the cover page of our RAP. The painting shows a young man who has come of age and has embarked on a walkabout journey. He is learning by crossing Songlines and walking across Country and meeting with other Mobs.
