Trust in .au

We maintain trust in .au by operating a reliable .au, upholding best practice security and delivering a transparent and accessible .au Licensing Framework. In the financial year, we supported more than 4.2 million .au domain names, delivered 100 per cent availability on the .au domain name system (DNS), registry database and WHOIS service, and completed 22,499 compliance audits, up 39 per cent from the prior year.

Supporting innovation

We invest in initiatives that deliver benefits for Australian internet users through the .au domain. In 2024-25 we expanded our Public Benefit Program. In addition to our annual Community Grant Program, we launched the inaugural round of our Research and Development (R&D) Grant Program and announced the new auDA Churchill Fellowship, delivered with the Churchill Trust.

Multi-stakeholder engagement

auDA fosters strong relationships in delivering a trusted .au and participating in multi-stakeholder internet governance. We engage with members locally and with stakeholders locally, regionally and globally. Highlights from the financial year include growing our membership base by 781 to 5,831 members, engaging broadly with industry, government, civil society and academia on internet governance and technology policy, and supporting .au registrars to enable a competitive .au market.

Case study: Australian Internet Governance Academy Australia 2024

auDA is committed to developing the next generation of internet governance experts. To support this goal, auDA hosted the inaugural Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy Australia (APIGA Australia) program, with 40 participants from across the nation, in November 2024. The program provided an interactive learning environment and enabled participants to build their understanding of how the internet and multi-stakeholder governance model work, as well as grow their network of internet governance enthusiasts.

Our people

Our people work together to create a supportive, high-performing workplace that drives auDA’s purpose forward. auDA maintained strong gender balance across its staff in the period. Staff engagement rose four percentage points to 79, reflecting our investment in our people and a strong workplace culture.

Governance at auDA

We are committed to effective governance, a strategic capability articulated in our 2021-25 Strategy and identified as a top material theme by our stakeholders. The auDA Board of Directors provides advice and oversight to auDA. In 2024-25, the Board supported a range of key activity, including input to and approval of auDA’s 2026-30 Strategy, engagement with the auDA community, including Board Advisory Committees, and approval of the Terms of Reference for the 2025 .au Licensing Rules Review.


Australasian Reporting Awards

Our 2023-24 Annual Report was awarded Silver at the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA). Our 2022-23 and 2021-22 Annual Reports were awarded Bronze at the ARA.
