New Licensing Rules

auDA has launched its new .au Licensing Framework, which introduces new rules for the com.au, net.au, org.au, asn.au, edu.au, and state and territory namespaces.

auDA welcomes the appointment of its new Licence Review Panel.

The new rules for .au domains contain changes to the rules for complaints and cancellations.

The rules for Australia's State and Territory namespaces (e.g. vic.au, nt.au) are changing to allow a wider range of organisations to register localised .au domain names.

The new .au licensing rules contain a change which affects foreign com.au and net.au registrants who use a trade mark to meet the eligibility requirements.

Unincorporated organisations may be impacted by upcoming rule changes in the org.au namespace but they may be eligible to maintain an org.au under one of the 11 eligible categories of not-for-profits.

The new rules for .au domain names take effect on 12 April 2021 and contain a range of changes.
