auDA hosted a webinar on 20 February 2024 in partnership with the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CSCRC) to explore the development and implementation of the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy, featuring Rosemary Sinclair AM, Rachael Falk, Hamish Hansford and Ambassador Brendan Dowling.

Submission to the parliamentary inquiry into the capability of law enforcement to respond to cybercrime, submitted in January 2024.

auDA is proud to join the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner to support Privacy Awareness Week. Running from 1 to 7 May 2023, it highlights the importance of promoting privacy and protecting the personal information of all Australians, including online.   

Less than half of Australians feel confident using the internet due to cyber security concerns. In fact, 80 per cent of us are worried about having our personal data stolen. The good news is there are ways we can enhance our security online and still participate in digital society.

The .au is an important part of Australia’s internet ecosystem. In fact, the Federal Government has deemed the .au domain name system (DNS) part of Australia’s suite of critical infrastructure alongside other networks, assets and services upon which Australians rely for social and economic wellbeing, such as energy and financial services.  

As administrators of the .au domain, auDA recognises the criticality of the domain name system (DNS) to modern society. To explore the importance of the DNS, we hosted a webinar in November 2022 with auDA CEO Rosemary Sinclair AM, auDA Internet Governance and Policy Director Jordan Carter, and Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (Cyber Security CRC) CEO Rachael Falk. 

According to the Australian Cyber Security Centre, cybercrime reports in Australia increased by 13 per cent in the 2020-21 financial year. In addition, the recently released Sophos State of Ransomware 2022 report showed that 75 per cent of Australian businesses are expecting to be hit by a cyberattack over the coming year. With cyber security such a critical issue for Australian businesses, we sat down with Susie Jones and Adam Selwood, founders of Cynch Security, a specialist cyber fitness advisor for Australian small businesses.

Small businesses are not immune to cyber security incidents. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute, supported by auDA, created a tool called .auCheck, to help businesses quickly and easily check the security of their websites and empower businesses to uplift their Internet security practices.
