auDA invites you to join an upcoming interactive virtual discussion on the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20) review and what they mean for internet governance in 2026 and beyond.
The WSIS+20 review was held last year, marking two decades of global cooperation on digital development. The review’s outcomes set the stage for the next era of collaboration to drive the development of a people-centred digital world. In this session, panellists will:
- Share insights from the WSIS+20 process and agreed outcomes
- Highlight the internet governance issues likely to feature prominently in 2026
- Consider how global developments intersect with regional and national priorities
- Identify actions the Australian community can take to shape this framework into the future.
The discussion will be interactive: it is designed to seek your thoughts and reflections on the above topics through online tools and Q&A.
The auDA team will use the insights gained to help inform our advocacy and shape our plans for the future.

WSIS+20
The WSIS+20 review marked an important milestone in global digital cooperation. Governments reached consensus on a range of commitments aimed at strengthening digital inclusion, development and multistakeholder collaboration, reaffirming the importance of an open, secure and interoperable internet.
The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) secured a permanent mandate, and countries called for stronger resourcing of its secretariat. With this key forum now not up for renewal every few years, a key follow-up from the WSIS+20 process will be how to make the IGF more effective.
You can read more about the outcomes of the WSIS+20 review on the auDA website.
