Appointments to the auDA Board, with Marina Go to join as Chair

The auDA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Marina Go AM to succeed Alan Cameron AO as Independent Chairperson, the appointment of one new Director, the re-appointment of an existing Director to the auDA Board, and selection of three candidates for auDA’s upcoming Elected Director Ballot.

Chair appointment

Marina currently serves as a non-executive director on the boards of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Metcash, Southern Cross Austereo and Transurban and is Chair of Adore Beauty and the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations. Previously, she has served as the Chair of the Wests Tigers Rugby League Football Club, Super Netball Limited and Ovarian Cancer Australia and as board director at Energy Australia, Netball Australia and 7-Eleven; and Executive roles at organisations including Hearst-Bauer Media and Fairfax.

Outgoing Chair Alan Cameron said “Marina has a deep record of leadership and exceptional governance experience. She is an outstanding appointee, whose expertise will ensure auDA continues to receive strong governance oversight and guidance in the execution of its core functions and ambitious new five-year strategy.”

In-coming Chair, Marina Go said, “I am thrilled to join the auDA Board as Chair. Under Alan Cameron’s leadership, auDA has undergone significant transformation and the .au is now a leading country code Top Level Domain. I look forward to working with the auDA Team to ensure the .au continues to support Australia’s digital ecosystem into the future.”

Alan will step down and Marina will commence in the role of auDA Chair immediately following auDA’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 20 November 2025.

The auDA Board thanks Alan for his significant contribution to auDA as Chair since 2019. Alan has delivered steady leadership, embedded robust governance processes and supported auDA through a significant period of change, growth and revitalisation, including overseeing the development of two organisational strategies for auDA.

CEO, Bruce Tonkin, welcomed Marina as Chair-elect and thanked Alan for his thoughtful leadership over his tenure. “Alan has been an exemplary Chair. He has contributed significantly to the repositioning of auDA and auDA is grateful for his steadfast commitment to .au, auDA and expanding social and economic value for Australians through the internet.”

Appointed Directors

The auDA Board also welcomes new Appointed Director, Sarv Girn, and the reappointment of current Director Sandra Hook.

Sandra has served on the auDA Board since 2022. She combines strong commercial acumen with a commitment to public good, bringing extensive executive and board leadership across technology, education, media, retail and urban renewal. She is Chair of NextEd Group and a Director of IVE Group, WiseTech Global and End Food Waste Ltd.

Sarv also brings strong experience to the Board with executive roles at I-Med Radiology Network, Reserve Bank of Australia, Westpac, and Commonwealth Bank; with current board roles including Police Bank and CBHS Health Fund. Sarv and Sandra will commence their terms immediately following auDA’s 2025 AGM.

Elected Directors

auDA’s 2025 AGM will also provide an opportunity for .au members to elect two new Board Directors from three highly qualified nominees approved by the Board to stand for election:

  • Sandra Davey, current auDA Director
  • Andrew Moffat
  • Mike Trovato, current auDA Director.

The election process will commence on 23 October and be managed independently by MUFG Corporate Markets (MUFG). Members will receive an invitation to participate in the ballot and information on the three candidates from MUFG on 23 October. The successful two candidates will be announced and commence their terms directly following the AGM.

Departing Directors

One new Elected Director will fill the position made vacant by departing Elected Director, Wendy Thorpe OAM. Wendy has served on the auDA Board since 2022, including as current Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee and member of the Governance and Culture Committee. She is also a current member of the auDA Nomination Committee and will continue in this role. The Board thanks Wendy for her active participation, insight and contributions over her term, in particular to auDA’s financial governance and people and culture matters.

Selection process:

The search process for the new Independent Chairperson, new Appointed Board Directors and Elected Director candidates was conducted by auDA’s eight person Nomination Committee, following a robust merit-based process. The Nomination Committee approved and recommended candidates suitable for appointment or election to the Board based on an assessment against the auDA Board Skills Matrix.

The auDA Board then approved the appointment of the Chairperson, two Appointed Directors and three Elected Director nominees.
