The price you pay to register a domain name will vary depending on the registrar you choose.

While auDA sets the wholesale price for .au domain names ($8.61/year inc. GST as of 1 June 2022), registrars set the retail price.

We always recommend shopping around to find a registrar that best suits your needs as each registrar is different and offers different services and levels of support.

Tips:

  • Lots of registrars offer incentives for the initial licence period, so ensure you’re aware of any changes in pricing you can expect when it comes time to renew your .au domain name.
  • Factor in the level of support you might need in using your domain name when you’re looking for a registrar. While higher support levels might mean you pay more for a domain name registration, you could end up saving money if you require help.
