auDA has today opened two consultations for which it seeks community feedback.
Proposed new purpose statement
auDA’s Board seeks feedback on an updated purpose statement: "Connecting Australians to an open internet with trust and confidence".
The aim of the revised purpose is to use accessible and memorable language to simply reflect what auDA does, for whom and to what end.
The new purpose statement reflects:
- auDA’s strong public purpose remit: by noting that auDA’s purpose is to serve all Australians. This represents the diverse cohort that benefits from auDA’s work - individuals, business, organisations, government and the nation as a whole.
- auDA’s dual technical and societal roles: auDA is proud to deliver significant social and economic value through its delivery of a stable, accessible, secure and resilient .au domain.
- auDA’s contribution to global internet governance: by upholding an open, secure and trusted internet that Australians use with confidence.
Proposed administrative changes to edu.au rules
The Board also seeks feedback on proposed changes to Schedule A of the .au Licensing Rules, which contains the rules for domain names in the edu.au namespace.
The proposed changes are administrative in nature and were recommended by the edu.au Advisory Committee (EAC), which is an auDA Board advisory committee.
